Your First Visit to a Fertility Clinic: What to Expect
Booking your first fertility appointment can feel overwhelming, but it is an important step toward understanding your options. Knowing what will happen at this visit can ease anxiety and help you feel more in control.
Preparing for the Appointment
Write down your menstrual history and any past pregnancies or miscarriages
Bring a list of medications and supplements
Collect previous blood tests, ultrasound reports, or surgery notes
If possible, attend with your partner so both histories can be reviewed
During the Visit
Your doctor will take a detailed medical history, ask about lifestyle, and perform or arrange basic tests such as blood work, pelvic ultrasound, and semen analysis. You’ll have the chance to ask questions about timing, treatment options, and success rates.
Leaving With a Plan
By the end of the visit, most patients receive:
- A summary of the likely causes of difficulty conceiving
- A recommended set of investigations
- An outline of possible treatment paths (timed intercourse, IUI, IVF, etc.)
Our goal is that you leave feeling informed, respected, and hopeful—not rushed or confused.
